Spike Lacey

Paralegal

Spike Lacey is a Paralegal at James & West LLP.
Spike’s first step into the legal world was at thirteen years old doing work experience as a receptionist in a law firm in Dalston. Three years later he undertook a mini pupillage shadowing barristers from Five Paper Buildings and gaining first-hand experience of the British criminal court system.

After leaving sixth form he worked as an Office Assistant and soon Office Administrator across a half-dozen departments at Switalskis Solicitors, a legal aid firm in Yorkshire. At these same solicitors he became a Paralegal working on group litigation cases for survivors of institutional child abuse.

Spike later graduated from UCL with a first-class BA in Comparative Literature. He then worked as a Marketing Executive for Legal Utopia, a legal technology start-up which endeavoured to connect people with the legal services they needed at an affordable price. Here he managed their social media presence and wrote and designed newsletters, blogs, and advertising content.

At James & West, Spike combines this experience with his strong belief in the necessity and integrity of the act of whistleblowing. The public interest is a personal passion of his and Spike is glad to be working to further it with the highly experienced professionals at James & West in supporting whistleblowers in their legal actions.
